This is not necessarily the best nor only, proper path for a demonologist. It is serious play. It is wholly unnecessary. It can be potent.
Motif is a dragon. Significance of dragon is found in its unreality: that it is a mythical beast (which strangely, persistently has shown-up in the mythology of virtually every culture except for Artic and Antarctic regions) and is, therefore, unrestrained. Its associated "elements" are, air (a gas) and fire (a plasma). To visually behold this non-creature, the applicant need utilize intent: a directed, willful envisioning. Peer into a fire brazier or pit, or look up to the night sky, especially when overcast, or a fog, mist, moonbeam, smoke: natural vapors. It could be tiny or enormous; size doesn't really matter! The dragon will sometimes reveal itself in a lightning flash, followed by its roar. In whatever form it presents itself, expect its appearance to be momentary.

I'd invite Michael Salerno way before I would the Deacon. The latter has too many skeletons in his closet.
Criteria: The applicant must combine the studies of Angelology, C'thonicism, and Demonology. Those who accept or seek inclusion previously, during procedure such as a houseblessing, will have recited the Prayer to Saint Michael. They will have encountered an angelic being.
Induction: When he or she attains membership, they will be presented with a chapter-length booklet (of these guidelines) and dragon-logo pin or pendant. Ceremoniously, they will be told of their power of Word. Perhaps recite that proclamation/Prayer while holding a lit, white candle. Also, illumination could be provided by tiki torchlight.
